I know I haven't posted much lately, but this hit me today and really shook me... You've probably seen this picture a hundred times, but have you really paid attention to it?
It's supposed to be a cute picture, with the dog doing exactly like the man, and the cat, as usual, defying everything and doing the opposite.
But do you see what I see?
I see a man or woman so overcome with shame that they have to beg to eat that they cannot even look at the crowd who passes by them out of fear of judgement and condemnation. Can you even begin to imagine being so overwhelmed that you could not lift your head to meet the eyes of those that might possibly stop to help you? My heart was broken when I saw this, at the thought of knowing that there were people in the world so ashamed of their circumstances that they can not even ask for help. Do you really see the world around you, or did you see just another beggar? You did notice him, right?
